The question I ask employees is “do you work in an organisation where communication is a priority, ensuring that all staff are fully informed of events that concern them and what to do to get involved?”  If yes is the response, I ask “how does that make you feel as an employee – valued, respected, secure, trusted?”

The agreement of those within the organisation that employs an open and transparent way of working shows good leadership, a positive culture, change culture and is much more likely to have employee ownership for sustainability of any changes.

Unfortunately, the response I often hear is “No, I don’t work in that environment”.  Thus, a clear case for looking at what the culture is within that organisation and considering what is required to change it.
